Bosom Buddies Bristol

Celebrating 25 years of Bosom Buddies

Founded in 1997 by Lynette Hopkins and Marlene Roberts it was set up to provide support and friendship to patients in the Bristol area. In the early days the ladies worked hard to fundraise and provide much needed equipment for the Hospital.

In 25 years Bosom Buddies has raised over a million pounds which has been used to fund Ultrasound scanners, refurbish mobile breast screening units, Pic line equipment, gift bags, heart cushions, and much much more.

On the 23rd July 2022 Bosom Buddies celebrated 25 years with an afternoon tea party at Penny Brohn Cancer Centre. Over 60 ladies attended what was an amazing and emotional day. Co-founder Lynette Hopkins accepted a Certificate of Appreciation for her work with Bosom Buddies and was honoured by being made Patron of the Charity.

Flowers were presented to Pat True for making over 2000 heart cushions and 1500 drain bags, all these are provided to the Bristol Breast Unit at Southmead.

Flowers were also presented to Lorraine Peall, a breast care nurse specialist who has supported us with her time and experience over the last 8 years. A huge thanks to Veronica Swann who with her husband Chris collected and stored dozens of tombola prizes and set up the stall on the day making it a huge success.
