What Our Clients Say

Tried a bit of everything!
“I found and joined Bosom Buddies after my active treatment had finished and after feeling a bit lost and isolated. For me Bosom Buddies is a diverse group, one that it is both reassuring and empowering. Our monthly meetings are an opportunity to meet and talk to others who have received the same diagnosis. Sharing worries and concerns is hugely helpful.
I have enjoyed the fun side of the group too – Skittles, Stomp, Lunches ……”

The whole experience
“I went for my routine mammogram 4 years ago and was told I had breast cancer, this was in Covid lockdown, masks 😷 etc made things very stressful.
I found Bosom Buddies early on and the support group meetings then were held on zoom, now face to face!
This lifeline helped so much, it was great to find others who were going through the same journey and to have a forum to hear about the journeys others were going through, knowing that I wasn’t on my own, and even better once the restrictions were lifted and we could all meet up at the Penny Brohn Centre in Pill.
I still attend the group monthly lunches, Christmas lunches, wellbeing days, monthly meetings with guest speakers, have treatments with Kate Oldham, attend Christmas lunches, plus the committee organising social events.
This is a great support group of strong positive amazing women who have been through trauma and are helping each other.”

Therapies and Workshops
“Bosom Buddies makes me feel totally supported and not judged. It has had a huge impact on my mental wellbeing in terms of gaining confidence in what my body can do, taking a positive approach, realising how important it is to be kinder to myself and more accepting of my new limitations. The kindness, expertise and sense of fun all add to the very high quality of my experience.
I wanted support for pain reduction, confidence to touch and manage my body, sound advice re what I put on or in my body, stress reduction, encouragement and positivity.
I also went to workshops, it cheered me up at times when I’d felt very weak and tempted to withdraw socially. They introduced me to new and enjoyable experiences and shared laughter with others experiencing similar difficulties. I felt deeply relaxed and restored at the end of each event. The care and thought that went into the planning of each event was evident and made the environment feel very safe to trust and relax in to.“

Wellbeing and Therapies
“The treatments I have had provide huge benefits – physically and mentally – calming thoughts and a positive attitude ensure I am not overwhelmed by any stress! I have been totally supported with suggestions for my well being after the treatment
The Wellbeing days are hugely beneficial – they provide a sense of “togetherness” with ladies who understand what we have been through. They provide practical ideas for “me” time and they give a sense of joy – how lucky we are to be able to attend.”

Lymphoedema
“I have gained a lot of support and understanding, ongoing knowledge given at a pace I can cope with physically and cognitively due to Kate’s extensive knowledge and experience in this field. I couldn’t feel more grateful. I feel very supported by Kate every time I see her. I feel less alone with my lymphoedema and gain a bit more knowledge each session which is empowering for this complex and never ending condition. I actually don’t know where I’d be without her.
Yes. This event supported my well being by giving me the opportunity to see others with lymphoedema as it can feel very isolating and like you are the only one. It also provided ideas and encouragement that made me more motivated to be proactive in my own care and wellbeing. This included dancing, being present in nature and introduced me to using arts as another tool to put in my toolbox.”
