Great Western Air Ambulance
May 2025
This interesting talk provided the group with an insight into what the GWAAC do and how they support our community. Great Western Air Ambulance provide emergency care to people who are in a state so critical that they require the specialist skills of our team at the scene of the accident or medical incident. Though we are part of the regional 999 response service and work closely with NHS hospitals, we are a charity entirely funded by local people just like you.
We don’t simply fly people to the nearest hospital. Our priority is to get to the patient fast. We treat people at the scene, on the road and in the air, providing complex interventions to stabilise and treat the patient and give them the best chance of a positive outcome. The service we provide is reliant on our brilliant team of pilots, Advanced and Specialist Paramedics and Consultant Doctors who specialise in pre-hospital care.
GWAAC saves lives across Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, North Somerset and parts of Wiltshire.

Emily Krelle
Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist
July 2025
Emily provided the group with a great insight into pelvic health. Emily shared her vast experience of specialising and treating female pelvic conditions.
Starting her career in 2008, her experienced both NHS and private hospitals in Bath and Bristol. Emily found that the typically prescribed exercises didn’t work for everyone, she then investigated other approaches. Emily, through her own experience as well as those of others, believes that one size doesn’t fit all and that a personal assessment and a personal treatment plan is important.
Her holistic approach really supported her knowledge of how to support people with pelvic floor issues. We had an informative presentation as well as some fantastic take away tips to use at home.

✨ A Talk on Stress Management and Self-Care with Helena
Helena, a highly experienced complementary therapist since 2011, led a valuable session for the group focusing on stress and effective coping strategies.
Drawing on her extensive background, including volunteering at the Wellbeing Centre at Southmead (2015-2020) and her role as a Living Well Facilitator at Penny Brohn, Helena now serves as a reflexologist for Penny Brohn at a Cancer Centre in North Bristol, in addition to working in local clinics.
Helena is passionate about providing holistic treatments tailored to individual needs, often combining therapies like Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, and Reiki for enhanced healing. A key part of her approach is empowering clients with self-care techniques to use between sessions, supporting their personal healing journey.
During this insightful session, group members were encouraged to discuss their personal stressors and existing coping mechanisms. Helena then guided the group through a practical self-care workshop, demonstrating simple, relaxing techniques using hand reflexology and Indian head massage that members can easily integrate into their daily routines.
